Meta and EssilorLuxottica to Launch Next-Gen Smart Glasses at Connect Conference
Meta is set to unveil its Hypernova smart glasses, priced at $800, during next month's Connect conference. Developed in partnership with Ray-Ban Maker EssilorLuxottica, the glasses feature a digital display in the right lens for notifications and lightweight AR overlays. The design emphasizes practicality over immersive experiences, aligning with Meta's incremental AR strategy.
Hypernova includes photo and video capture, messaging, calling, and AI assistant integration. A neural wristband controller from Meta's CTRL Labs enables gesture-based interactions. The collaboration has shown strong traction, with over 2 million Ray-Ban smart glasses sold and smart glasses revenue tripling year-over-year.
